Three Great Books For Caregivers!

Two wonderful caregivers and a team of doctors have shared their books with me recently and I wanted to share them with you. As always, all the stories are unique, yet I relate to each one of them in a special way. The first book, “My Dad Got Sick: Love & Insights From A Caregiver’s Unexpected Journey Through Cancer” by Jay Perry, is the powerful and loving memoir of a son whose world was rocked by the cancer diagnosis of his Dad. Jay takes us on his emotional journey as cares for his father, sharing the shock, grief, hope, and love he feels along the way. By sharing his experience and strength he hopes to ease the way for those of us going through similar journeys. This loving son allows us to witness his powerful journey giving us insight, valuable information, and a deep appreciation for choosing to deeply care for those we love. The second wonderful caregiver memoir, “Mama Peaches and Me: Wit and Wisdom for Worn-Out Caregivers” is by certified caregiving consultant and speaker Christopher-Charles Chaney. I have a special place in my heart for him and his Mom because like my Mom who we called Mama Claire, his Mom, who he calls Mama Peaches, is quite a character! This sweet, laugh out loud and inspiring memoir shares conversations he had with Mama Peaches, words of wisdom from Madam Peaches herself, and solid tips, guidelines, and spiritual tools to survive the caregiver journey. I laughed and cried. The third book I want to mention is “The Care of the Older Person”, an extensive medical and research publication written by experienced doctors and researchers about a variety of medical conditions and topics faced by the elder care community. This book is perfect for Caregiver Warriors like me who think knowledge is power and want to understand everything they can about symptoms, conditions, and treatments. While clinical, it is clear and easy to navigate and extraordinarily helpful in understanding medical protocols for a wide range of issues we or our loved ones face as we age. All three of these terrific books are available on Amazon and can be found at the following links. Enjoy!!
